My little nugget turned 4 months old last Friday (6.22.12). It's amazing how much they develop in 4 months. Size-wise, she only feels slightly bigger to me (she's 12.5lbs) but instead of being a little baby blob, she can hold her head up, grab things with more dexertity, and respond to my attempts at The Itsy Bitsy Spider.
The first question I'm always asked is, "Does she sleep well?" an the answer is yes, starting at about 3-4 weeks she had no problem going to bed around 10p and sleeping until 6a with good stretches of naps during the day. Now that she's a little older the naps during the day are getting more challenging and so she'll go to bed earlier in the evening. She still sleeps best when she's swaddled, but now is able to break free so we'll only do it when she's really fussy and needs to settle down (like every night this week, thank you development leap!).
Why didn't we get a (good) grill sooner! Matt got his new Weber Genesis Grill for a birthday/Father's Day combo present and we both love it! We've only had the chance to use the grill twice- once for Sirloin steaks from Omaha steaks as a birthday present for Matt to go along with his new grill and then for these shrimp kababobs, but we're already imagining the grilling options in our future!
On Sunday, we packed up the baby and headed south to the island to spend the day in Newport. First we dropped off Grace with her grandparents in Portsmouth and after a quick outfit change she threw on her sun hat and was whisked off to the Wine, Cheese, and Chocolate Festival in Westport.
Matt and I made our way down to Newport (winding through the backroads to avoid traffic the way only a native islander knows how) and met up with the Gold family at Bowen's Wharf. A short time later we boarded a sailbot with a cheese tray and case of pink champagne and embarked on our 2 hour chartered journey into Narragansett Bay.
On Satruday we packed up the in-laws and the baby and headed up to Derry, New Hampshire to celebrate Gracie's dad's cousin's daughter Emmah's 3rd birthday. Does that just make them cousins? Or maybe it's second cousins?
