Source My interest in Yoga actually began thanks to my husband. At the time, he was training for his first marathon and having some mobility issues, and resulting injuries. He received the recommendation from some runners to try Vinyasa heated yoga at a local Yoga studio called Raffa Yoga in Cranston, RI. He went to the first class without me, absolutely loved it and begged me to join him next time. I warily accepted, knowing that if it was something athletic that his ultimate type A personality liked then I was definitely going to be in trouble. At the first class I felt great. The heat was nice on a damp March evening. I felt proud of myself that I could keep up with the class, be so flexible, and fumble around with the poses. It wasn't until the next day that I realized how little my body actually understood about its own limits! Let's just say that since that day I have entered my practice with much more caution and every yoga session is a journey to see how far I can push my limits. Regardless, yoga give me a workout like nothing else I've tried. It's hard to explain, but it's more about how you feel after the session. The thing I love most is the calmness and satisfaction felt after each session. I can honestly say that I've felt this after every session. It makes the pain and discomfort worth it when you finally fall into Savasana, or Corpse pose. Best feeling in the world!! Love it! |
