'Tis the Season

I'm heading out to NYC tomorrow morning for a full day of Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting festivities. I was sooo excited when I found out that I won the dept. trip to the ceremony (I actually won because the first guy couldn't make it) and now it's finally here. There are a whole bunch of Swarovski employees that are going/working at the event so it should be a good time. Check out the ceremony on TV from 7-9! Or head on over to www.swarovski.com for some interesting info on the tree topper. The star weighs 500lbs!! Annnyway, I'll post some pics when I return on Thursday.

Happy Holidays!

So what did you do last night? I spent my night prancing in front of the TV, swinging golf clubs and hurling bowling balls down the alley. Did I mention that all of these things were done in my fuzzy bathrobe? Thanks to the Wii I’ll never have to put on rented bowling shoes again! Nintendo’s new console, the Wii, hit stores on Sunday- but only the lucky persistent pre-orderers (like Matt) walked away with one. The whole concept of this gaming system was foreign to me… You mean I have to stand up and swing things? Yes. You basically make the same movements to make it happen on the screen. Playing 9 holes? You have to swing the controller to hit the golf ball. Boxing? Punch the air or cover your face. Tennis? Let’s just say it’s one way to avoid tennis elbow, the virtual tennis ball doesn’t vibrate nearly as hard. Well I think you get the drift. Wii Sports is really the only game I’ve tried so far, I’m really not into those games where you run around, shoot people and duck. We’ll see how well it goes over at Thanksgiving when I get my Mom up there swinging golf balls… I just know she’s going to show me up.

Tonga... the not so Friendly Islands

One year ago my best friend assured me that her Peace Corps assignment was the assignment that any Peace Corps volunteer would die to get.... She went on to tell us about the climate, the people, and how Tonga is refered to as the Friendly Islands. However, since she's been there, 1 volunteer was eaten by a shark, there was a major earthquake, the King died, and now there are RIOTS!!! I just sat down after a loooooong day to discover this on BBC.

Faux Pas

Did you know that in Italy wearing white socks is seen as a sign of weakness or of being a "mamma's boy"? Or that In Canada it is impolite to remove your shoes when entering someone's house?

Or here's one for you J, that in Germany it is a considered gauche to make a fuss or object to someone smoking, and that, in the workplace you are expected to bring cake or buy lunch for your colleagues when it is your birthday or you are leaving the company?

Who knew??

Check out many many more Faux Pas listed by country here.

Don't leave home without them!!

Celebrities get creative with Swarovski

Hayy hayyy everyone... you've got to surf on over to eBay to check out what happens when you give celebrities a hatbox full of Swarovski jewlry and a glue gun to create a star for the Starlight Starbright Foundation. Some of the celebrities include Paris Hilton, Teri Hatcher, Brooke Shields, Tyra Banks and the current money-maker Robin McGraw (Mrs. Dr. Phil). If nothing else, you've got to take a look at Paris' contribution... two words... SO PARIS! Annnyway... a huge shoutout to Melissa who has been dealing with these stars (both of them) for the last 4 months!

The Fed is DUNZO

Ha! Finally! That ridiculous excuse for a husband will have to make his own ridiculous way in the world! Britney Spears has filed for divorce with Kevin Federline.

I first found out about the Spears-Federline divorce from my informant Trey over at Pink is the New Blog and later discovered that I had a CNN Breaking News email in my inbox- and if it's CNN Breaking News it must be true.

I wonder if Jen knows in Germany... maybe I'll call her at 1:23 am. She'll appreciate it.
