Oh Tom. You're so subtle. I'm not sure if you've heard or not, but Tom here has a movie coming out... MI: III.

Alright, enough of the charade. Tom Cruise is a maniac. How did this happen?? I swear he was perfectly normal when MI: II came out! Ahh, I know what it is... Nicole must have kept him in line. You've got a lot of work ahead of you Katie Holmes. Get crackin'.

Babel Fish... hmm

So Babel Fish, a translating tool that was an essential part of my French degree is now owned by Yahoo... but can still be found at its original location on Altavista... interesting.

*And a word of caution to all you foreign language students out there- DO NOT rely on Babel Fish to write your papers -unless you know the language well enough to be able to tell when the translation comes back with something completely asinine. (Which it definitely will and your professor will know) Another tool that was very useful when I was writing my 20 page French term papers was the Spelling and Grammar checker in Microsoft Word. This was great for making sure accents were correct and that genders were matching... all of that fun stuff that comes naturally to the French.

Well I know that the semester is coming to an end now and those French papers and projects are approaching deadlines... if you need any help with them give me a shout! Honestly I miss writing them!! Sick- I know!

In the news today....

Some of the day's news highlights...

First of all, Tony Snow. So I'm logging into my mail at AOL today and I see the headline, "He's called Bush 'An embarrassment'... who hasn't. If you're going to go on that basis... well then I'm sure that even his own mother is out of the running.

Then there's Chernobyl. Today marks the 20th anniversary of the nuclear accident that resulted in radiation contamination that affected most of Europe. I didn't realize that this occurred in 1986, at that point I was too young to remember it happening(since I was only 4), but I was always under the impression that it happened in the 70's for some reason. Check out the wiki article if you'd like some more info.

In celebrity gossip today, US Weekly is claiming that Britney Spears is "100 percent pregnant again with her second child". Nooo say it ain't so!! Not another K-Fed spawn! You know, I was really hoping that we would see Britney get back on her feet, clean up, and start doing something productive again. Granted, I was never a huge Brit-Brit fan, but it's just sad to see her like this!

Gas is HOW much now?!?

Always the frugal shopper, I'll often go to the most chaotic, craziest looking gas stations just to save a few cents. Check out Gas Buddy, it's a really cool site that has an interactive map of gas prices by county. FYI, you can find the cheapest prices in Wyoming- it's just too bad that you probably have to drive 22 miles to get to the nearest gas station.

CNN Article: Gas up 25 cents in 2 weeks

The Web's Weirdest

So I made the mistake of taking a nap after work and now I'll be up all night. What's better for late night boredom than poking around Delicious? ...hmmm probably a lot of things, but here are some really weird websites I came across tonight:

I Hate Cilantro
The Waiter Rule - for all you future CEO's
Overheard in New York - this one is pretty funny, here's a quick excerpt

Guy on cell: Uh huh, and that's why you have herpes, dude.

Teacher lady: Kids, kids...Quiet! Remember, no one else on this train likes children!

RIP Jamestown Bridge

Rhode Island will say goodbye to the old Jamestown Bridge today. Demolition of the old bridge is scheduled to occur between 10am and 2pm today and if you can't make it down to North Kingstown or Jamestown, you can check it out at Channel 10's website

I'm on there as we speak (damn the resrictions of a 9 to 5 job!) and Governor Carceiri is having a press conference. Remarks about how scary it was to drive over the old bridge by politicians...etc, etc, what a feat it was to get funding to demolish this bridge etc. etc.
Whoaaa that was pretty cool. The whole center span dropped into the ocean. The old Jamestown Bridge has always been a part of my Rhode Island and now Narragansett Bay looks naked!

Real World...Denver?

Yes yes it's true. The next location for MTV's Real World has been found in Denver, Colorado. The house will be located at 1920 Market Street, the former location of B-52 Billards. No word yet on what their job will be... but there will be a basketball court. Yeah, not too much info out there yet but i'll be sure to keep you all updated.

In the meantime check out Reality Blurred

Power Yoga

I had my first Power Yoga sessions last night...whewww. For those of you unsure of what Power Yoga is, it's held in a 90F (hot hot) room and involves a 90 minute althletic full body yoga session. Needless to say I am a teeeensy bit sore today : )

I really like it though! I was definitely nervous to try it at first. My boyfriend and his parents started going and raved about it. They're all athletic runners though so I wasn't sure if I could keep up. The great thing about yoga is that you can take it at your own pace and no one is going to judge because they're all too busy sweating and twisting to take any notice at all in what you're doing : ) So try it!

In light of my recent travels...

In light of my recent travels down to Texas, I thought I'd share this funny (haha if you're a Democrat anyway) swf with y'all. Thanks Ali for reminding me why I don't want to move down to the Austin office.... even if they do have free diet coke.

Business as usual in Austin

My trip to Austin was great. While I did spend nearly two whole days traveling and one day actually in Austin, it was still worthwhile. In my whirlwind tour, I got to see downtown, ate at Starlite in the Warehouse District, saw the Capital building, bought a cowboy hat for my boyfriend, along with lots of hot sauce, and saw my share of pickup trucks. On the work side, I got to check out our new office down there, meet up with some ISRs that were at New Hire training a few months ago, went out to lunch at a Tex-Mex place down the street from the office, etc etc.

In Austin on business for a few days... I promise a post as soon as I return. This is my first time going to Texas after all... I'm sure good stories are sure to follow : )
